The oil rich city of Warri, the economic nerve of Delta state, South-South region, was on Saturday, September 17, 2022, locked down to both human and vehicular movements as mammoth crowd welcomed Alhaiji Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the presidential candidate of the New Nigerian People’s Party, (NNPP), who visited the city in company of other leaders of the party to commission Commodore Omatseye Nesiama (rtd), campaign office.

Omatseye is the party’s Delta South Senatorial Candidate in the forthcoming general election in the country slated for February 2023.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Engr. Kwankwaso eulogized Omatseye virtues particularly, his undying desire and doggedness to restore the hope of the people.

He, therefore, encouraged the good people of the senatorial district to vote for Omatseye and NNPP as a political party.

Also speaking, Commodore Nesiama, the Delta South Senatorial candidate of NNPP expressed happiness with the presence of Kwankwaso for the inauguration of the secretariat of his campaign organisation in Warri saying, “it means he values whatever we are doing here”.

He said, “The ‘Hope Walk’ earlier in the day was to sensitize the people about the need for them, having registered to pick up their Permanent Voter Cards because without them, they cannot vote. We are just encouraging them to pick their PVCs with the same zeal they used for registration during the last exercise.”

He urged the electorate especially the people of Delta South Senatorial District to collect their PVCs noting that it is the only way they can elect candidates of their choice.

While noting that the forthcoming election is not a “do” or “die” contest, he stated that “the people’s interest is now rekindled by the presence of people like us in the race and that does not call for do or die”.

He spoke further, “The people of Delta South have moved out to show that they love the Commodore of Hope. That they love the New Nigerian People’s Party coming with new possibilities for them. That’s the joyful thing. I am elated. I am overwhelmed. And I thank God for that opportunity and for the impetus to do more.

“It is obvious with the turnout of people that nobody was rented. Nobody was bought. People came out enmass to support this movement.”

In a related development, the Chairman, Delta state NNPP Chapter, Honorable Efe Otobore in a brief interview with GbaramatuVoice at the event  stated that Omatseye is the right candidate and the party have an unflinching  hope in him.He boasted that the Peoples Democratic Party’s(PDP) candidate will not be able to withstand him.

Before the commissioning, Kwankwaso and his entourage were earlier received by Commodore Nesiama and other party faithfuls at the Osubi Airstrip in Okpe Local Government Area after his flight touched down at the Osubi airport.

Also, hundreds of members of the All Progressives Congress, Peoples Democratic Party and Labour Party in thr state formally dumped their parties and joined forces with the New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP).
