*Military still in possession of Golden Sword.
The recent invasion of Gbaramatu Kingdom by the Nigerian Military has taken a different dimension as it has been alleged that there was massive looting of the entire Kingdom by the military.
This was later confirmed in a Press Statement by High Chief Government Ekpemupolo (Tompolo) yesterday that was published in different national dailies.The statement reads in part:
“Presently all communities in Gbaramatu kingdom have been deserted by residents for fear of a repeat of the 2009 military invasion, which still leave the communities in shambles. Even till now, the military has not returned the symbol of authority they took away from the Egbesu Shrine and other valuables in Oporoza community during the May 28, 2016 invasion. It is pertinent to state that I have not heard and seen in any part of Nigeria, even the most volatile North Eastern part of Nigeria,where Boko Haram has been killing innocent people, the way and manner the Military desecrated the traditional worship centres in Gbaramatu Kingdom. This is a clear oppression and intimidation of the peace loving people of Gbaramatu Kingdom”
Commenting on the scenario, a source who would not want his name to be printed revealed that the Golden Sword is the symbol of authority of the deity of Oporoza in Gbaramatu Kingdom.
It will be recalled that this is barely 24hours after the highly worded press release by the former Niger Delta warlord as the Nigerian Soldiers surreptitiously stormed Oporoza in three gun boats to return some of the looted properties at about 5pm on Sunday in which only cutlasses where returned while still keeping the Golden Sword which is the symbol of authority to themselves.
A source, who spoke to Gbaramatu Voice Newspaper with the condition of anonymity, warned that the Golden sword should be returned by all means while adding that the returned cutlasses where inconsequential compared to the symbol of authority.
