Tourists, devotees, others arrive Odimodi community as Abadezongo Cultural Festival begins

Well meaning sons and daughters of Odimodi town, tourists and adherents of traditional religions across Ijaw nation, were among those that have arrived the oil-rich community in Burutu Local Government Area of Delta state for the four day annual Abadezongo Cultural Festival which commenced today Wednesday, January 25, 2023

According to a statement by the organizers sighted by GbaramatuVoice, the festival is expected to climax on Saturday, January 28, in the community under the very distinguished Chairmanship of High Chief Bibipere Ajube.

Known by the worshippers as a cultural festival and deity, Abadezongo is believed to be a god of peace and prosperity that visits its worshippers with peace, prosperity and development to the community each it is celebrated.

GbaramatuVoices writes that the event commenced at about 5am with the famous Abadezongo Ogele (procession) cultural dance which saw members, men and women alike, clad in black and black regalia and processed round the major streets within the community.

GbramatuVoice further gathered that the procession is a purification process that prepares the ground for the first appearance of Abadezongo masquerade for the blessing of both the people and the community.

Further details as released by the organizers shows that on Thursday January 26, 2023, the event will feature Abadezongo and Finborobina masquerades among other side attractions

Similarly, on Friday, January 27, it will be the turn of Oki/Okodimoyanya Masquerade to be on display.

In a related development, the statement added that worshippers and guests alike will on Saturday entertained by Abadezongo Masquerade while cultural music shall be provided by Abraham Young and his band.
