Motor accident claims seven as passenger bus rams parked trailer in Abia
It was a gory sight Friday morning when a Toyota Humer passenger bus, with the inscription, ‘Egbon Investment’, rammed onto a broken down articulated vehicle on the middle of the road killing seven passengers and leaving others injured. The accident occured along Umuahia – Aba Expressway at about 6am between Umuikaa Junction and Aro-Ngwa junction.
2023 Polls: IGP trains 79 Squadron Commanders
The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Usman Baba, “has commenced a two-week fully residential refresher training for all 79 Squadron Commanders of the Nigeria Police Mobile Force at the Police Mobile Force Training College, Ila-Orangun, Osun State from 9th to 23rd January 2023”. Lagos: Police rescue 3 teens from prostitution
Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), Lagos, have rescued three teenagers from prostitution at Itamaga in the Ikorodu area of the state. The victims were rescued on January 8, 2023 at about 6pm when a patrol team noticed their suspicious movements within the area.

Russia says it has taken control of Ukrainian salt mine town Soledar after a months-long battle, calling it a “crucial step”. The victory will allow Russian troops to cut off Ukrainian forces in the nearby larger city of Bakhmut, the defence ministry said.
