TOMPOLO’S TANTITA: A private security actor that saved the nation

By GbaramatuVoice Editorial Board

It is pedestrian information that the Federal Government of Nigeria through the instrumentality of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), amids criticism contracted Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, TSSNL, a private but famous security actor in Nigeria, where High Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo aka Tompolo, a former leader of the defund Movement for The Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND), has a vested interest, to among other responsibilities secure the nation’s high priced crude oil exploration and production facilities in the country.

Christened “Pipeline Surveillance Contract”, the deal which was consummated precisely in August 2022, and predicated on Tantita’s capacity has today turned out to be the best decision made by the now rested President Muhammadu Buhari led Federal Government.

Why the Tantita’s showing deserves our collective praise, is that its achievements in securitizing the nation’s petroleum sector has led to the nation’s economic substance.

GbaramatuVoice believes that Chief Tompolo’s achievements in this direction is so exemplary that even those who earlier criticized Federal Government award of contract to a non state actor, have suddenly seen not only the light but the wisdom behind the decision.

They have seen the changes and witnessed the progress made by Tantita.

The intelligent investigations, shocking discoveries, and progress made in curbing crude oil theft in the Niger Delta region by Tompolo and his men supports the above assertion.

As a media organization desirous of seeing sustainable development emerge in the Niger Delta region. GbaramatuVoice has independently monitored with keen interest and could therefore, say without fear of contradictory that Tompolo and his men has brought drastic reduction in crude oil theft in the country, create youth employment while ending the activities of the illegal crude oil refiners in the entire Niger Delta region.

Presently, all the crude oil pipelines in Delta, Bayelsa and some parts of Rivers states, which were usually invaded at will by crude oil thieves are now adequately secured, thanks to Tantita’s well coordinated security personnel.

Also heartening is the awareness that as part of efforts to increase its efficiency and quality delivery, Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, TSSNL, has developed a culture of periodic staff training and re-training.

A typical example of such effort is the recent 12-day operational training for staff facilitated by best brains in the security sector from within and outside the country at the company’s well fitted training ground located in Oporoza, the ancestral headquarters of Gbaramatu kingdom in Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta state. In the past one year,

The programme was fashioned to enhance staff understanding of operational processes and procedures, developing skills required for efficient execution of operational tasks, promoting teamwork and alliance among the staff while ensuring compliance with regulations, standards that will foster overall improvement, operational performance and accomplishment.

Tantita continually upgrades its security architecture, incorporates new know-how, especially information technology. This is a sincere reason why the contract needs to be sustained by the Present Federal Government.

Finally, another reason why Tantita as an organization and Chief Government as an individual deserves praise is that, there exists glaring evidence that each passing day, the duo become more proactive, intentional, optimistic, persistent, investing more energy towards the success of the project

Finally, GbaramatuVoice believes that the reward for good work is more work. Therefore,  the best way to reward Tompolo and his men is by allowing the contract to continue.
