Tompolo’s birthday organising committee suspends his birthday due to COVID-19

The 49th birthday Symposium/Celebration in honour of High Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo (aka Tompolo), the Ibe-ebidouwei of Ijaw nation, slated to hold on April 12, has been suspended due to COVID-19.

The suspension, according to a statement by Mr. Jacob Abai, Coordinator/Publicity, Mr. Michael Tonlagha, Chairman, Local Organising Committee, and Mr. Fiyebo Eperetei, Secretary, LOC in Warri on April 7, the public should bear with the unfortunate outcome even when activities had been lined up to commemorate the historic event.

“Due to the onset of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) all over the country and the world at large, the 49th birthday anniversary celebration is hereby suspended till the 50th Golden Jubilee celebration April 12th, 2021,” the statement read.

Further, the statement said, “We are sorry for the inconveniences this might have caused you.

“Please stay safe, stay home and avoid social gatherings this period.”
