Time to build a better Okerenkoko community is now – Ekpemupolo

Newly elected executive president of Okerenkoko Development Youth Council in Okerenkoko, Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta State, Comrade Ebikebena Ekpemupolo, has affirmed that the time to build a better Okerenkoko community is now.

He made the affirmation during the presentation of his acceptance speech on Friday at the Okerenkoko Civic Centre, where members of the body were inaugurated.

Comrade Ekpemupolo, who said he has no doubt in his mind that the youth body would continue to lay the building blocks for a prosperous tomorrow for everyone in the community, called for support from all and sundry in order to make the dream a reality.

“I have no doubt in my mind that we shall continue to lay the building blocks for a prosperous tomorrow for all. I will not give myself rest until our beloved community has fully assumed the status of the modern community of our dreams. 

“The interest of Okerenkoko is bigger than the private ambitions of anyone of us. Therefore, I pray you to join hands with me and build a better place for Okerenkoko Federated Community. Our beloved community needs our talent and our time. The time to build a better community is now!” he added.

As part of the activities to mark the inauguration, Mr. Fianka Diamond who delivered a lecture titled ‘The Role of Youth in Peace Building in Niger Delta’, called on the youths to see themselves as peace ambassadors and to work together for the development of the community and the Niger Delta region.

Also speaking at the ceremony, Hon. Akpodikumor Oturubo, executive chairman of the community, informed the new executive members of the youth council that their work starts the moment they are sworn in and that they shouldn’t go to sleep. Moreover, he advised them to go for raw project, start them and finish them, while stressing that, “the position you are is not to make money but rather to bring development to the community.”

He lastly prayed for a peaceful and progressive tenure for them and also encouraged them to seek for advice and help as he and the elders are ready to carry the youth executives along.

The newly elected executive members sworn-in by Barrister Samson Bebenimibo included; Comrade Ebikebena Ekpemupolo, President; Comrade Sandra Ebitimi, Vice President; Comrade Kelvin Adagbabiri, Secretary General; Comrade Ebimo Daniel, Public Relations Officer (PRO); Ekekebieke Samuel, Assistant Secretary; Jacob Yoghaye, Financial Secretary; Comrade Seiyefa Adam, Treasurer; Engr. Ekabukumor Seaman, Chief Organiser; David Ajosibe, Organiser and Dennis Oyibor, Auditor.
