Time of suffering over in Niger Delta – Akpabio

The Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio has raised hope in the Niger Delta saying that era of hues and cry now belong to history.

It was when a group, Youth for Peace and Development in the Niger Delta, paid him a courtesy call in Abuja, that he gave the assurance .

According to him, “The President is committed to changing the face of Niger Delta. I charge you the youths to take this message home that the era of crying and suffering is over.”

Akpabio however urged them to see peace as the only way to live in the area while pointing out that the Federal Government intends to carry out a situation analysis on projects executed in the Niger Delta.

According to him, “A critical assessment of the situation will enable the government to gauge the impact of activities and programmes and be able to formulate new policy programmes to effectively address the challenges in the region.”

Our reporter gathered that he promised to visit each state in the Niger Delta to assess situation and report back to the President.
