STOP THE BOMBINGS, EMBRACE PEACE, DELTA MONARCH BEGS MILITANTS

•Says Niger Deltans are the major cause of their problems

•Appeals to FG for the massive development of Niger Delta

The paramount ruler of Ogbe-Ijoh Warri Kingdom in Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta State, His Royal Majesty Couple Markson Oromoni, Monbeni II, have appealed to Niger Delta militants to shield their swords and embrace peace.

The paramount ruler made the appeal in his Royal Palace, at Ogbe-Ijoh during a courtesy visit by the the publisher of Gbaramatu Voice Newspaper, Jacob Abai.

The Royal father, therefore, urged the militants to drop their arms and embrace peace for meaningful dialogue to commence while alleging that the development of the Niger Delta is tied to Peace and unity among its people to constructively engage critical stakeholders in the Nigerian State with a view of bringing the region out from the many years of ignominious neglect.

He however, lamented on the cruel negligence meted out on the region by successive governments as he called on the federal government to order a state of emergency on the development of the region to avoid a recurrence of militancy.

The King particularly stated that the region’s problems can only come to an end if the Nigerian government genuinely develop it, explaining that when there is development and the people are meaningfully engaged, then militancy would die naturally.

He also opine that the problem of Niger Delta is largely caused by people of the region.

According to him, the bombings are putting an already worse economy in a more dangerous situation, stressing that its effects are so dire.

The monarch noted that with the persistent bombings championed by the militants, apart from positioning the economy in a bad light, he alleged that it has completely paralyzed fishing activities, caused environmental degradation, it has made human lives in the region to be endangered species owing to the continued spill.

He further stated that the region and her people live in perpetual fear of being attacked by the military owing to the bombings occasioned by the militants.
