Tantita Security Services in perspective

By GbarmatuVoice Editorial Board

When in the third quarter of 2022, Tantita Security Services Nigerian Limited (TSSNL), a company incorporated in Nigeria in 2005 was announced by the Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) as one of the preferred companies to protect the nation’s crude oil bearing pipelines and other high priced oil exploration and production facilities in the Niger Delta region, the development was greeted with mixed feelings.

While Nigerians of goodwill hailed NNPCL action, and referred to the development as a right step taken in the right direction, others based on yet to be identified reason(s) against High Chief Government Ekpemupolo (aka Tompolo), the man behind Tantita Security Services, viewed it with skepticism, describing Tantita as a little known organization with neither human nor technical proficiency to implement such large scaled and sensitive responsibility. The boundaries between both spheres shifted back and forth for some weeks. In some cases, they have ended up igniting a lot of tension.

Out of so many examples of such critical attacks against Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, the loudest came from the former Foreign Affairs Minister, Prof. Bolaji Akinyemi and his group, Academy of International Affairs. In the wake of the contract, the group described the federal government’s decision to award pipeline surveillance contract to Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, as an exercise in futility .

Today, looking at the superlative effort and operational sagacity Tantita have dissipated in sanitizing the nation’s petroleum sector and its resultant effect on the nation’s economy as well as the Niger Delta region, it is now evident that the NNPCL management and of course the Federal Government of Nigeria were right in their choice of Tantita for the plum pipeline surveillance contract job.

Even at the risk of repeating itself, GbaramatuVoice will not fail to underline that there is an appreciable shift from negativity to positivity in the petro-economic discourse in Nigeria just as there is a total change in political and socioeconomic narratives in the country; from hopelessness to that of an assured future. Tantita’s creative hands and leadership sagacity has culled into one, all the multifaceted challenges bedeviling the sectors and provided a consolidated solution to all.

With Tantita’s excellent performance in this direction, the one time volatile and environmentally degraded/devastated Niger Delta region is giving way to a more livable ecosystem devoid of environmental pollution, the region is gradually becoming a zone of peace with youths from the region now gainfully engaged and active in the day to day protection of the nation’s high priced oil facilities domiciled in their vicinities.

GbaramatuVoice will also report the efforts of Engineer Kestin Pondi-led Tantita has triggered a rebound in Nigeria’s crude oil production volumes. Nigeria, it was reported produced 1.33 million b/d in December, contributing significantly to OPEC’s increased oil production in the period.

In financial terms, Tantita has redirected and positioned Nigeria on the part of profitability; the facts are there and speaks for it.

The Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources in a report dated Monday, January 16, 2023, particularly noted that the country raked in an additional N363bn from crude oil sale in the months of October, November and December 2022.

Even the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Chief Timipre Sylva, was more emphatic when he openly declared recently via a statement, that ‘Nigeria is making progress in oil earnings following improvements in security in the Niger Delta region’

Looking at these facts, it is obvious that Engr. Pondi led Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited has overwhelmingly proved the naysayers wrong and shamed critics.

Thus, while the Newspaper encourages Tantita Management to do more in upholding this national asserts, GbaramatuVoice will on the hands urge NNPCL management and of course the Federal Government of Nigeria not to succumb to the temptation of revoking this contract under any guise as the entire country is presently reaping the fruits arising from it through enduring peace in the Niger Delta region, safe environment, job creation and growth in the nation’s economy.
