Excitement Among Burutu Youths As Second Edition Of Hon Julius  Pondi Peace Cup Kicks Off November

Best team to pocket N500,000 – Comr. Akpule

As part of his youth empowerment programme in his constituency, Rt.  Honourable  Julius Pondi, member representing Burutu Federal Constituency in the Federal House of Representative has unfolded the plan for this year’s annual football competition.

This was contained in a recent release signed by the programme’s Coordinator, Comr. Emmanuel Akpule and made available to GbaramatuVoice.

This 2nd edition of the Peace Cup which has Rt Hon. Pondi as sponsor, according to the release, will commence with the screening of players starting on the 10th November 2017, and only the players who are eligible voters of Burutu Local Government Area will be allowed to participate. 

The above will be followed by the draws for this year’s edition billed for Sunday the 19th of November, 2017 by 1pm while the venue is Hon. Julius Pondi residence.

Comr. Emmanuel Akpule further explained that the competition will take the same format as the first year.

In his words, “It will be one time knockout. All wards that participated in the first edition will field teams in this year’s edition. Four centre’s have been approved for this year’s edition. They are Burutu, Ojobo, Kiagbodo and Obotobo communities,” he added.

Continuing, the opening match according to Comr. Akpule shall be played at the community football pitch, Ojobo on Saturday the 2nd of December, 2017 while the final match shall be played at the Obotobo 1 community pitch on Thursday the 21st day of December, 2017. 

He also explained that  the prizes to be won by  different teams shall be in these order; N500, 000 shall go to best team while second best will go home with the sum of N300, 000.

In the same manner, the team that will occupy the third place position will pocket a handsome award of N200, 000 while individuals that demonstrated outstanding performance shall also be rewarded. 

Comr. Emmanuel Akpule, therefore, called on all the youths in the constituency to start getting prepared for this year’s edition which promises to be glamorous as the organizers have lined up other side attractions that will add colours to the competition.
