Save Our Children’s Education, Igoba Community Begs Okowa

A clarion call has gone to the Governor of Delta State, Sen. Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa to come to the aid of the people of Igoba Community in the Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State to revive the only primary school as well as mobilize qualified teachers to help boost quality education in the area.

Mr. Kingsley Agbasa, Chairman of the community made this call while speaking to GbaramatuVoice yesterday. In his words, “The issue of education is very paramount to the development of any society. Presently, the only primary school block in the community is nothing to write home about due to its dilapidated structure. Also, we are seriously lacking good teachers.”

The community leader further stated that the community has been playing her role towards sustaining and enhancing quality education but needed more support from the government in the area of infrastructure and teachers deployment.

Giving details of their effort so far, Mr. Agbasa stated that the community has recent times tried on their own to do the needful but added that there is a limit to what the community can do in this regard.

Buttressing their situation further, the Chairman emphasizes that the community is lacking in the requisite finance to execute this project due to their poor revenue generation capacity.

In a related development, the people of Igoba community reeled out inadequate and lack of access to qualified teachers as another challenge that is facing the educational development in the community.

To underscore the importance of their demand, the community leader said, if quality education is not met, it will seriously affect students’ performance, both to their parents and the society at large. Without education, he opined, “we all know the effects it will have on society, especially now that the society is full of violent agitations due to the depraved state of the nation, leading to ignorance and uncivilized behaviours.”

Mr. Agbasa, therefore, appealed to the Okowa led administration to come to their rescue so that they can benefit from his SMART Agenda especially in the area of education.
