Rivers Police Declares Emergency on Elele Axis of East/West Road

The Rivers State Police Command has declared emergency on the Rumuekpe/Elele/Emohua axis of the East/West Road where a lot of criminal activities such as the killing of a bus driver and subsequent abduction of the passengers as well as the assassination of the leader of the Ahoada East Legislative Assembly, among others happened in the recent past.

Making the claim was the Public Relations Officer of the Police Command,  Nnamdi Omoni who explained that raids were also carried out in eight different camps to flush out the hoodlums.

He also stated that full investigations have commenced to get those responsible for the death of the leader of the Ahoada East Legislative Assembly,  Ekele Chikeobi, and added that the allegation that policemen on that axis were conniving with the criminals was also being investigated to ensure total peace returned to the area.

It will be recalled members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers recently issued a  strongly worded message asking for maximum security measures to be put in place in that axis of the East /West Road to safeguard the lives of drivers and passengers alike.
