Presidential Poll: Why Kogi state voted massively for Tinubu – Lawmaker

A member of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Ahmed Mohammed, has given insight as to why the people of the state voted massively for Senator Ahmed Bola Tinubu, during the Saturday, February 25, 2023 Presidential election in the country, which resulted in landslide victory for the All Progressive Congress (APC).

According to him, all through the period of election, everything was calm and the people did not really have much problem delivering Tinubu, now president-elect and others for the National Assembly.

Mohammed who spoke at the GbaramatuVoice flashship programme, “GbaramatuVoice Election Headquarters” explained that what set the stage for the victory is the fact that the state has a pragmatic and very youthful Governor that understands the language of the people, that understands the yearnings of the people and he has been able to give them their needs, dividends to democracy across board and the people are ready to stand with him and always.

Giving insight as to why Tinubu achieve a resounding victory, the former Deputy Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly, similarly asserted that the state is an APC state and members were resolute in retaining that status. He noted that both the party and its elected public officials have really shown that the party can give the people of the state dividends of democracy.

While noting that the party has given the people what they yearn for, he further argued that APC as a dominant party in the state have never been worried about the obedient phenomenon,

“We believe that Nigeria believes in the APC government and they have rekindled that hope with the massive votes given to our President-Elect,” he stated.

On the achievements of President Muhammadu led Federal Government, the Kogi state high ranking lawmaker stressed that President Buhari has done exceedingly well.

It would be recalled that the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state pulled 240,751 votes, while Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) came second with a total of 145,104 votes and the Labour Party emerged 3rd with a total of 56,217, among others.
