The deputy governor of Delta State, His Excellency Barr. (Dcn) Burutu Kingsley Otuaro is expected to storm Tuomo Community in Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State for the opening match of the Hon. Julius Pondi 2016 Peace Cup as draws holds on 1st of October.
Disclosing this to the Hon. Pondi Peace Cup Media Team, Comr. Emmanuel Gesikeme Akpule, Chairman Local Organising Committee to the football tournament made this known to the media team in a message, noting that the draws becomes necessary as it will enable teams know when they will be playing.
The LOC Chairman stated that with the filling and submission of forms by the 16 teams across the Local government Area, the stage is now set for the draws that will enable teams know when and who they will be playing.
“This is to formally invite you to the draws for the Hon. Julius Pondi Peace cup 2016 on Saturday October, 2016 at Peace Hall, Oku-emi Hotel, Bendel Estate. Warri by 11am promt.” LOC
Gesikeme stressed that after the draws on October 1st, the opening match will officially commence at Tuomo community in the Local Government Area on the 22nd of October 2016.
According to him, the opening match is expected to have political figures, His Excellency Barr. (Dcn) Kingsley Burutu Otuaro, distinguished deputy governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Peremobowei Ebebi, former deputy governor of Bayelsa State is alleged to Chairman the day, noting that the event will also feature other ebullient personalities within the state and beyond.
The media Chairman to the Pondi Peace Cup, Comr. Victor Isereke, on his part reveals that the team to win the 1st prize will be coasting home with a whooping sum of #500,000, second prize will be #300,000 and third prize will be #200,000 respectively.
He said other fabulous prizes are to be won by the most valuable player, highest goal scorer as well as the best goal keeper.
However, football scouts are expected to be on ground to select players that may perform overwhelmingly that have been alleged to have the opportunity to be integrated into a professional team within Nigeria and beyond.
Meanwhile, football pundits have advised players in the Local government Area to take advantage of the tournament and put in their best while alleging that this could be a life changing opportunity for football talents across the Council.
