POLITICAL TSUNAMI: PDP Loses 2000 Members To APC In Gbaramatu

As part of the political realignment in preparation for the January 2018 local council polls in the state and the 2019 general election in the country, Delta State has been witnessing gale of defections..

The latest  of such occurred  on Saturday, 7th October 2017, as no fewer than 2,000 members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta State, defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress, (APC) in Warri.

The development was recorded during a meeting presided over by Chief Michael Johnny, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South West Local Government Area, and the Deputy State Chairman, Olorogun CY Abeye Odogo.

Addressing the mammoth crowd, Chief Michael Johnny urged the people of Gbaramatu to embrace the APC as a party that would salvage the kingdom from poverty.

Continuing, he stated that he and others decided to join the most progressive and prosperous party in Delta State.

In his word “I cannot bring a curse, I cannot bring trouble, I cannot bring fear to my people. My being in APC today is to enable me to bring peace and development to my people. The APC as a party will be transparent in giving the people what belongs to them. APC is going to create a good environment for everybody.

The party chieftain told the people that, they have not come to join Michael Johnny, but have come to join APC. He added that for sixteen years, PDP has been in power but had nothing to show for it as they only disgraced and failed us.

While receiving the new entrants to the party on behalf of the Chairman, Chief Cyril Ogodo who is the State Deputy Chairman, remarked that Gbaramatu Kingdom is the backbone of PDP in Delta State, but with what is happening currently, the journey to the end of PDP had just commenced.

Responding on behalf of the decampees, Dcn. Barry Mulade attributed the economic hardship ravaging the country to PDP bad governance in the country.

In his word, “We are standing here for APC. I know that in 2019 our destiny will be controlled by ourselves; we are going to give 99 percent of the total votes to APC; we are not going back on our mandate, we are for APC in the forthcoming Local Government Election”.

These new members are men and women from communities in Gbaramatu Kingdom which includes; Oporoza, Benikrukru, Okerenkoko, Kenyagbene, Kokodiagbene, Azama, Inikorogha, Tebujor, Igoba, Pepe-ama, among others.

The event was witnessed by the party leaders from both the State and the Local Government as well as other lovers of the party.
