PIRATE ATTACK: IYC condemns mother, son killing

President, Ijaw Youths Council, IYC, Worldwide, Barrister Pereotubo Roland Oweilaemi has condemned the recent killing of a mother and her son by suspected sea pirates at a fishing camp near Ayakoromo town, Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State.

Addressing newsmen in Warri, the IYC president, bemoaned robbery activities and gruesome murder cases in the Niger Delta region.

The president said he was ready to work with security agencies to make sure the perpetrators of the dastardly act were brought to book and criminality and sea piracy in the Niger Delta was blotted out entirely.

Said he, “We have been preaching the gospel of sustainable peace in the Niger Delta for a long time. We have been working ceaselessly that our towns, hinterlands and fishing camps are free from terror.

“It is alarming that while we are fighting tooth and nail to ensure that we are free from the incessant bombardment of our communities, some disgruntled elements are bent on viciously attacking their fellow brothers in the name robbery”

The IYC President therefore promised to offer necessary assistance to the bereaved family.
