Oborevrwori, Okowa, traditional rulers, party chieftains honour Guwor at thanksgiving

The Delta State Governor. Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, his predecessor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa were among top dignitaries that graced the thanksgiving service of the Speaker, Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor and his wife, Timi, were he dedicated his reelection and successful inauguration as the Presiding Officer of the 8th Assembly to God in thanksgiving.

The well attended thanksgiving service was held at the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, Redeemed Hall Mega Parish, Warri, on Sunday, July 23, 2023

Guwor used the opportunity provided by the thanksgiving service to  express gratitude to God for the elevation from not just a member of the Assembly but Speaker of the House and sought God’s directions as he face the task ahead of him of presiding over the affairs of the first arm of government in democratic governance.

The roll calls of personalities that came from far and near to be a part of the celebration include Wife of the Deputy Governor of the state, Dame Catherine Onyeme, a representative of Governor of Taraba State, Speakers of some States Houses of Assembly, including Bauchi, Benue, Pleatue, Taraba, Enugu, Edo, Anambra, Bayelsa, Oyo, Osun, and Cross River states, immediate past Deputy Governor of the state, Deacon Kingsley Otuaro, Senator James Ebiowou Manager and serving and former members of the National and State Assembly, were in attendance.

Others include the Chief Judge of the State, Justice Theresa Diai, the Ebenanaowei of Ogulagha Kingdom, HRM Dr. Joseph Timiyan JP; Pere of Gbaramatu Kingdom, HRM Oboro-Gbaraun II, Aketekpe, Agadagba; Ovie of Idjerhe Kingdom, King Monday Whiskey JP; The Dein of Agbor, among others, party chieftains, community and religious leaders, captains of industries, opinion leaders and other top government functionaries within and outside Delta State.

The only bible reading from the book of Psalms, 100:1-5, 150:1-6, was taken by the celebrant, Emomotimi Guwor.

Pastor In charge of Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, Region 23, Pastor Charles Obasa, reminded Christians that they are products of faithfulness and should always have reason to appreciate Him.

Pastor Obasa, stressed the need for leaders to be committed to making positive impacts on the led, saying that where there is no vision, the people perished.

He prayed for knowledge, understanding and wisdom for Emomotimi Guwor as they are needed to succeed as Speaker, and urged him to remain focused even in the face of challenges.

Governor Sheriff Oborevrwori in his remarks said it was a thing of joy to join the Emomotimi Guwor in thanksgiving and congratulated him for his attainment as the Presiding Officer of the Delta State Legislature.

Oborevrwori urged Guwor to trust in God for wisdom and strength to succeed as Speaker, even as he admonished him to remain humble, transparent. accountable and a servant leader.

On the flooding challenges in Warri and environs, Oborevrwori said many illegal structures will go down in no distant time to allow for free flow of water, whenever it rains.

He assured that the lost glories of Warri City will be restored as strategic infrastructures would be attracted to the area by the administration.

The celebrant and Speaker of the State Assembly, Rt Hon Emomotimi, flanked by his wife, Timiebi, said it was good to thank God, saying that he is what he is today by the mercies of God.

The Speaker paid glowing tributes to the immediate past Deputy Governor of the state, Deacon Kingsley Otuaro who he said God used to launch him into politics as well as the parents who tutelage brought him thus far.

The high point of the service was special thanksgiving by the Speaker, joined by the Governor and other well wishers.
