OSHIOMHOLE DECLARES PUBLIC HOLIDAY AS OBA OF BENIN GETS CROWNED

Edo state has declared October 20, 2016 a public holiday as Prince Eheneden Erediauwa gets crowned.

The government believes the public holiday would give Edo people the opportunity to partake in the historic installation of the new Oba of Benin.

In fulfillment of the coronation rights of the Benin kingdom, the crown Prince on Tuesday, visited Useh Village in Egor local government area, to choose the name he will bear as king.

The climax of the rites is set to take place at the Urhokpota hall in Benin city, the Edo state capital, where the chosen name will be made public on Thursday October 20, 2016

Eheneden who arrived with his royal entourage was received with a rousing welcome from a large crowd, who showered praises on him.

While at the palace, he played the traditional game of pebbles (Akhue), as a large crowd of residents watched with admiration.
