Omuze @ 50: Oil magnate who loves the poor

On Saturday, May 9, Sunday Ebikeme Omuze, a Niger Delta oil magnate, philantropist and the CEO/MD, Sunny-Ebi Multi Systems Limited, clocked 50.

During the occasion marking his birthday, Omuze celebrated the day with orphans in Warri and Efffurun, Delta State

Omuze could had chosen to hold an elaborate party to herald his entry into the golden age, but he did not. Rather, he celebrated with children of Potters House Orphanage Home, Warri; Our Lady of Peace Orphanage Home and Kings Kids Compassion Orphanage Home, Effurun.

Ibakere, as Omuze is fondly called, led his friends, associates and church members to pray, wine and dine with them.

Omuze cut his simple white birthday cake in the shape of love. Chief (Barr.) Bosin Ebikeme, former Commissioner for Transport; his wife and children joined him and others to pose for pictures beside the cake.

Mr. Sunday Omuze joined by Jacob Abai, Publisher, GbaramatuVoice, carrying food items to the orphans, during his outreach programme to orphans. 

To his wife Ego, Omuze is her “all in all and indescribable.”

For Omuze, “The journey of life is not always easy. Yesterday (May 8 a day before the birthday), I reflected on the years before.

“Mostly on some of the things I had gone through. One can only be grateful to God for it is only by God’s grace we got to where we are today.”
