OML 42: NNPC/NECONDE under fire as oil workers embark on strike over poor welfare

…Nigerians attack NNPC, NECONDE

NNPC Production and Exploration Limited and Neconde Energy Limited, operators of Oil Mining Lease (OML) 42 in Delta state, have come under severe criticism after the workers embark on strike over poor salaries and treatment meted out to workers in the firm.

GbaramatuVoice had earlier reported that the workers protested in Warri on Thursday as they lamented against the refusal of the NNPC/NECONDE to prioritise their welfare adding that the company from time immemorial engage in the “promise and fail” technique just to make sure that the workers meet the target at the expense of the welfare of the workers.

According to the aggrieved workers, NECONDE is yet to review their contracts since 2017/2018 and this has deprived them of the necessary salary increment and welfare packages that will enable them to survive in the present inflation in the country.

The workers also lamented that the management is aware of their demands but they have chosen to ignore them. They also lamented that they are deprived of good food, good drinking water and other amenities that will make work easy for them.

This development has sparked social media reactions on Twitter and GbaramatuVoice brings some of the reactions of some netizens concerning the above report.
