NO MORE WAR IN DELTA APC, SAYS OGBORU

…We have risen in unity

…We have to enthrone a new Delta

Chief Great Ogboru, the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta, says the crisis that engulfed the party in the state is over.

Ogboru, who stated this on Friday in Asaba at the launching of the Delta APC Campaign Council, said that the crisis that rocked the party in the state had been resolved.

He further disclosed that party members had resolved to put their differences aside and work for the victory of the party.

“As a party, we have had our challenges in Delta, but today, the great men of our party have risen in unity to say enough is enough.

“We sat down and went to the drawing board to work and establish a united structure for our party.

“Today, APC in Delta is a formidable force and we have agreed to work and return President Buhari to power,” Ogboru said.

The APC governorship candidate enjoined party members and supporters to carry the message of unity to their wards and local governments.

He announced the constitution of the APC State Campaign Council with former governor, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan as chairman.

According to him, Dr Cairo Ojuogho, another chieftain of the party, will function as co-chairman and spokesperson of the council.

Ogboru also announced the appointment of Mr George Timinimi as the Director-General of the council.

Earlier, State Chairman of APC, Mr Jones Erue, reiterated the determination of the party to take over Delta.

He said the time had come to change the political dynamics of Delta and liberate the people of the state from hardship.

“Our quest to occupy the Government house Asabs is a serious business for all of us. We have to liberate Delta from the shackles of poverty, oppression and hopelessness.

“Also, as politicians, if we don’t take over the government house, many of us will become Intenally Displaced Politicians.

“I don’t want to be displaced, so also many of you here. So that is why we all have to work and enthrone a new Delta that will bring hope to our people.

“We have started with our door-to-door campaign. I can assure you that we are already there,” Erue said.

Sen. Ovie Omo-Agege said the APC in the state had become the party to beat.

“With this inauguration of our campaign committees, we are set to take over the political landscape of Delta.

“From ward to ward in all the local government areas, we are going to deliver all our candidates.

“We have an obligation to return our President, Mohammadu Buhari to power, because he has done so much to reposition Nigeria.

“We cannot allow PDP to come back to power because they wrecked this nation beyond imagination.

Ojuogho called on party members to close ranks and work in unity. He said that the days of the PDP administration in the state was over with the inauguration of APC campaign council in the state.

He dismissed insinuation about existing zooning agreement in Delta.

“Let me use this opportunity to clear this talk of power zoning in Delta.

“It is purely a PDP arrangement and APC is not under any obligation to follow such arrangement.

“In APC, the three senatorial districts in Delta are qualified to vie for the governorship position,” he said.

He, however, reminded party members in the state of the task ahead. He said: “As we set out to take over the affairs of the state, we must also tell ourselves the truth.

“The task ahead is not a tea party affair. We must be serious with our quest to dislodge PDP.

“First and foremost, APC in Delta has to come together as a united force and that is the only way we can win.

“We must stand firm and bury our differences. In the next 40 days, we must not rest. We must work and work harder. Uduaghan urged members to inculcate the winning mentality.

“We have to inculcate into ourselves the winning mentality because that is the secret of victory.

“The truth is that we have to believe in ourselves that we can do it. Let us go back to our various wards and spread the message.

“I want to remind everyone that work has started. We will continue to meet and strategise from now till the election,” he said.
