NIGER DELTA : KACHIKWU VISITS GBARAMATU, DECRIED HIGH LEVEL OF UNDERDEVELOPMENT, REITERATES FG COMMITMENT FOR DIALOGUE.

 The Hon. Minister for Petroleum Resources State, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu has stormed Kurutie and Okerenkoko Communities in Gharamatu Kingdom, Warri South West Local Government Area, Delta State in a bid to bring peace in the volatile  Niger Delta region. 

The minister made the call at Osubi airport in Okpe Local Government Area of Delta State while addressing Chiefs of Gbaramatu Kingdom that came to welcome him from inspecting the Nigerian Maritime University at Okerenkoko and its temporary site at Kurutie in Gbaramatu Kingdom.

Dr. Kachikwu maintained that his primary aim of visiting the KINGDOM is to see for himself and get a clearer picture the structures on ground about the controversial Maritime University in the kingdom as it has generated counter and cross counter motions on its establishment. He however expresses satisfaction on what he has seen so far in respect of the structures on ground both on the permanent and temporal sites at Okerenkoko and Kurutie communities.

Dr. Ibe decried  the unspeakable low level of development in Gbaramatu Kingdom and alleged that despite the many years of Oil exploration in the Kingdom, there is nothing tangible for the people to smile as the Maritime University that would have corrected this age long deprivation is being

treated in such blurred  manner as he wonders on the benefits of being an Oil producing Kingdom. He pledges to muster stakeholders in the Government to try his best in order to make sure that the institution Is brought back to life.

The Minister in clear terms reiterated on the Federal Government commitment to dialogue with the Niger Delta Avengers and Niger Delta Stakeholders as it was crowned with the unilateral declaration of the two weeks cease fire but seriously condemned and frowned at the onslaught against the NNPC pipeline bombing at Oruk Anam Local Government Area in Akwa Ibom State. He said such moves are not encouraging especially when Government is doing its best in ensuring that there is dialogue in order to forestall the economic disaster that have plagued the Country in recent times.

However, Kachikwu urged the Gbaramatu Chiefs to return to their subjects in order to discuss with them as meaningful and genuine dialogue is the way out and not bombing of our economic lifeline.

GbaramatuVoice Newspaper learnt that in a swift reaction, Chief Wellington Okrika, the Bolouwei of Gbaramatu Kingdom appreciated the distinguished Hon. Minister for his bold steps so far in ensuring peace in the Niger Delta as he assures him of their undiluted cooperation in ensuring peace in the region.

Also speaking is Chief Alfred Bubor, the Fiewei of the Kingdom who  lauds the minister’s rare steps of leadership as he endorses his move for peace in the Niger Delta and urged him to put his team in order for genuine dialogue with the agitators and other Niger Delta Stakeholders.
