OGBE-IJOH/ALADJA CRISIS: WE CAN’T BE INTIMIDATED, OGBE-IJOH DARES DELTA COMMISSIONER OF POLICE

Calls for the immediate release of community executives

The people of Ogbe-Ijoh in Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta State have lambasted the commissioner of Police Delta State, Mr. Zanna Ibrahim over the alleged unlawful detention of Ogbe-Ijoh and Isaba community Executives, stressing that they can’t be intimidated.

This was contained in a Press statement issued yesterday by Chief Monday Keme, Secretary to His Royal Majesty, Monbeni III, the Amakosu of Ogbe-Ijoh Warri Kingdom while reacting to the beheading of late. Mr. Gabriel Sibe, an indigene of Isaba community which later metamorphosed to the arrest of the two community executive members.

Monday Keme, particularly accused the Delta State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Zanna Ibrahim of allegedly acting the script of certain Urhobo politicians.

The statement however calls on the Inspector General of the Nigerian Police Force, IGP Ibrahim Idris to wade into the alleged anomaly by directing Mr. Zanna to immediately release the detained executives.

Chief Keme however wonders on how the commissioner of Police Delta State could arrest the Ogbe-Ijoh and Isaba community Executives, a bereaved people whose son was said to have beheaded on the 5th of January 2017 without doing anything to bring the perpetrators to book.

The statement read in part “Ogbe-Ijoh and Isaba communities wish to draw the attention of the Inspector General of Police over the unlawful arrest/detention of the Chairmen, Secretaries and Youth Presidents of Ogbe-Ijoh and Isaba communities by the Commissioner of Police Delta State who is acting on the instructions of certain Urhobo politicians.

“The Commissioner of Police Delta State invited the leadership of Aladja, Isaba and Ogbe-Ijoh communities including the Traditional Rulers over the recent beheading of late Mr. Gabriel Sibe, an indigene of Isaba community who was murdered on Friday 6th January 2016.

“Ogbe-Ijoh and Isaba communities reported to the Area Command Warri at 8am and waited patiently till about 2pm before the Commissioner of Police Delta State arrived. Aladja community did not honor the invitation. It was alleged that Aladja community later send the Youth President and another youth to represent the community in Asaba. After taking their statements, Commissioner of Police Delta State directed that Ogbe-Ijoh and Isaba community executives be detained.” It frowns.

Adding that “We are surprised that Mr. Zanna Ibrahim can descend so low to detain the BEREAVED people, which son was killed and beheaded and the culprits moving freely as innocent people in Aladja. The two communities went extra miles to calm down the youths not to embark on reprisal attack.

“We therefore call on the Police authorities to direct Mr. Zanna Ibrahim, Commissioner of Police Delta State to release the community executives without further delay as their continued detention will ultimately lead to break down of law and order in the State.

“We also wish to remind Mr. Zanna Ibrahim that the Ogbe-Ijoh and Isaba people can not be intimidated.” It asserted.

The arrested community executives according to Chief Monday Keme includes, Ogbe-Ijoh: Alex Akemotubo (Chairman), Godwin Eneghan (Secretary) and Edwin Aken Youth President. Isaba: Chief Santors Emmontoghan, representing Pere of Isaba, Henry Ofoleyo (Chairman), Austin Deinfegha (Secretary) and Moses Ogugu Youth President.
