OGBE-IJOH RAISES ALARM OVER PLANNED MILITARY INVASION

  • Vows to resist any invasion with last drop of blood
  • Appeals to President Buhari to intervene

WARRI – The people of Ogbe-Ijoh, an Ijaw settlement in Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta State have today raised alarm over an alleged military invasion orchestrated by Aladja community, an Urhobo enclave in Udu Local Government Area of the State.

This was contained in a statement by Chief Monday Keme, a leader in Ogbe-Ijoh Warri kingdom, stressing that the community has uncovered plans by their alleged rivals, Aladja community to give military uniforms to hired assailants to attack Ogbe-Ijoh in the guise of peace keeping.

Chief Monday, have however vowed not to allow history repeats itself, promising to resist any attempt surreptitiously organized attack under any guise with the last drop of their blood.

The statement particularly appealed to the Chief of Army staff to call his troops stationed in Aladja to order while calling on President Buhari to intervene in the gradually snowballing crises as it accuses Governor Okowa of lacking the political will in resolving the age long boundary dispute.

“It has come to our notice that Aladja community has concluded arrangement to attack Ogbe-Ijoh with Military personnel stationed in Aladja to maintain peace in the wake of the boundary dispute between the two communities.

“It will be recalled that in 1996 Late Major-General Dumuje influenced Military personnel stationed in Aladja to destroy Ogbe-Ijoh and similar plan has been perfected were Aladja hired assailants will dress in Military uniforms to carry out the attack.

“The Ogbe-Ijoh community has been reliably informed of the arrival of over 100 Army uniforms which were distributed to the hired assailants and operation to be supervised by the Military stationed in Aladja on the directive of an Aladja indigene who is a Colonel in the Army. This serving Army officer has vowed to bring down Ogbe-Ijoh just as his father did in 1996.

“The Ogbe-Ijoh community therefore calls on the Chief of Army Staff to call his men stationed in Aladja to order as any attempt to replicate the 1996 incident will be resisted with the last drop of our blood. Furthermore, we appeal to the Federal Government to intervene as the Ifeanyi Okowa led State Government lacks the political will to address the aged long boundary dispute.” It alerted.
