A senior Niger Delta advocate, Chief Combolous Ikisa have called on President Muhammadu Buhari to immediately sack the Minister of Transport, Federal Republic of Nigeria, Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi.———
Chief Ikisa who was the director of mobilization, Okowa Mandate (OM) in the 2015 general elections made the call yesterday in Warri, Delta State while addressing the press on state of the nation, stressing that the presence of Amaechi in the President Buhari’s cabinet would only give the government a negative image.
Combolous alleged that the various divisive tendencies displayed by the Minister of Transport against the growth and development of his supposed Niger Delta region is so shameful and do not deserve to be among ministers of the Federal Republic of Nigeria especially one with a diehard mission of fixing the country.
According to him, “Since the day Amaechi lied against the former grand commander of all Niger Delta ex warlords, High Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo, alias Tompolo who has done so much for the region that the Maritime University, sited in Okerenkoko has no physical structures on ground and that it should be scraped, that was the day he betrayed our trust and exposed his high level of incompetence in his ministry, it was indeed so shameful for him to have gone this far just to prevent development to his area ” Ikisa frowned.
He further noted that the President Buhari led Governerment should not surround itself with personalities like Amaechi who do not mean well for the people, asserting that he is a major hindrance to the good agenda of President Buhari and should be sacked with immediate effect.
Speaking on the former Niger Delta warlord, Tompolo, Chief Combolous maintains that the Federal Government should make peace with Tompolo instead of having issues with him, alleging that he has drawn several developmental legacies to the region and have contributed to the growth and development of Nigeria’s democracy.
He particularly appealed to the Federal government and its agencies to immediately commence academic activities on the embattled Nigeria Maritime University, Okerenkoko in Warri South West Local Government Area, emphasizing that the delay is becoming worrisome.
