LP ACCUSES OMO-AGEGE OF INSTIGATING CRISIS TO JOIN APC

The Labour Party (LP) yesterday accused its only member in the Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege from Delta State of being behind the purported National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting that announced the sacking of its Chairman, Abdukadir Abdul Salam and three other National Working Committee members of the party.

A faction of the party NEC met on Monday in Abuja to announce the suspension and removal of the National Chairman and the National Working Committee, NWC, members but the Labour Party NWC insisted that there is no crisis in the party, accusing Sen Omo Agege of instigating crisis and sponsoring some miscreants to create impression of division within the party to enable him actualise his plot to decamp to All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking to the media at the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Ebere Ifendu, who spoke with other NWC members insisted that the party remains a united one that has been operating peacefully without any form of crisis, adding that Sen Omo Agege was the one causing artificial crisis for him to officially decamp to APC.

While dismissing insinuation that the National Chairman has been sacked, she said, “You can see we are here in our National Secretariat. The National Chairman is around and other national officers are here. The strangers cannot sack a constituted authority.

“We heard about it just like journalists learnt about it that some miscreants came together from Delta State and these are not members of our party. These are people we don’t know.

They are lucky yesterday we would have gotten them arrested, at least, the newsmen would have asked them to produce their membership cards because we don’t know them, they are strangers to us.
