Despite the economic challenge, we were able to surpass our target – Comr. Mulade

•HRM, Aketekpe Agadagba Honoured For Providing Purposeful Leadership

The Comrade Sheriff Mulade led outgone executives of Kokodiagbene community has declared that they have been able to surpass the target as given to them by the community on the day of their inauguration.

Comrade Mulade stated this while reeling out their achievements at a brief but elaborate ceremony marking their handover and award giving exercise.

The handover cum Award giving ceremony took place on Monday 27, 2017 at the community town hall in Kokodiagbene community.

According to him, despite all the challenges we faced which at the beginning seems insurmountable, we thank God that we were able to, not just overcome but went ahead to surpass the given target as set by the community.

Continuing, he listed some of their achievements, which according to him, include but not limited to; opening of Kokodiagbene sand filling projects, completion of the community town hall, commencement of Kokodiagbene Secondary School with government approval, employment of community based support teachers, opening of Kokodiagbene Coastal Mega market and construction of a local boat for traders.

Others according to him are; construction of hostel double deck beds, approval of NECO examination for secondary school, awarding of scholarships, replacement of two community jetties, construction of internal walkways, approval from the Delta State Government for construction of hostel buildings, repairs of community generating set, amongst other projects too numerous to mention.

In a related development, the outgoing executive used the opportunity to recognize some eminent sons and daughters of Gbaramatu Kingdom who have performed excellently well in their chosen fields of endeavor.   

This saw HRM, Oboro Gbaraun II (JP), Aketekpe Agadagba, the Pere of Gbaramatu Kingdom honored with an Award of Excellence for his fatherly role in promoting peaceful coexistence, sustenance of rich cultural heritage and advocating for the development of the Niger Delta and Nigeria at large.

Others that were also honoured with Award of Excellence for their strides in education, community development and sustenance of peace within the region are; High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, Mr. Matthew Tonlagha, Chief (Dr.) J.G.B. Ari JP., Rev. (Dr.) I. C. Tolar, Chief Emmanuel Aye Ekpetipu, Elder Livinus Akoto, Madam Akassere Miller (community women leader) and the body of Kokodiagbene Youth Development Movement (KYDM).

Still on the event, Master Sunday Robert and Oyibo Progress from Kokodiagbene Secondary School each received an award for most outstanding academic performance and most well-dressed student respectively, while Miss Abel Treasure from Ebiabu Primary School on the other hands received the honour of most decent and well-dressed pupil.

Receiving the award on behalf of the Pere of Gbaramatu Kingdom, Chief Julius Tonfawei thanked the executives for the award and for a well-done job within these eventful three years period while  praying for the progress of the community. 

Mrs. Ati Odafe, the immediate past Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the group told GbaramatuVoice that she is hoping and praying for the incoming administration to perform very well. This according to her will help in fast-tracking the development of the community.
