—CEPEJ gives awards to stakeholders
The Aladja/ Ogbe-Ijoh Peace building novelty football match played today (Sunday) at Aladja in Udu Local Government Area ended in a barren draw with no victor, no vanquish. Also, the Center for peace and environmental justice (CEPEJ) gave awards to stakeholders in both players as well as other stakeholders in both communities.
The novelty match which was organised by Aladja/Ogbe-Ijoh peace Vanguard in partnership with the Cente for Peace abd Environmental Justice as part of the peace building process to unite the two Communities
The match which kicked-off by 3pm saw the Ogbe-Ijoh team parading the likes of Chief Jite Brown (Captain) Chief Favour Izoukumor and Thompson Laifa while the Aladja team featured the likes of Hon. Taiye Duke Tuoyo (Captain) ,Bezi Ighotegwolor and Otto Ogbiruveta and other Aladja youth leaders locked horns against the Ogbe-Ijoh players.
And at the end of the novelty match, there was no victor, no vanquish as it ended a barren draw.
The first leg earlier played at Ogbijoh in Warri South west also ended in a barren draw.
Also featuring,the female novelty match between the two Communities also ended a barren draw while other kiddies field events took place.
The CEPEJ team led by the National Coordinator, Comrade Sheriff Mulade who witnessed the novelty match presented awards to Stakeholders as part of the Peace building process between the two Communities which have engaged in series of fight in the past as a result of land dispute.
The Chairman of the Local Organising Committee (LOC), Mr. Henry Obus thanked the Communities for finally to put the past behind them and decided to follow the path of peace, adding that it is left for the Delta State Government to play their own part.
He noted that the communities are warming up for a peaceful demonstration to the Delta state government house, Asaba to register their readiness for state government to intervene at this stage to help in demarcating the land boundary for the final peace process.
Also speaking, Chairman of Udu LGA, Hon. Jite Brown, Chief Favour Izoukumor, Amb. Layefa, Thompson and Chief Mulade Sheriff expressed gratitude to God and members in both Aladja/ Ogbe-Ijoh peace vanguard as well other stakeholders in both communities who have sacrificed their time, resources and energy for the peace building in the two communities.
