The leadership of Host Communities of Nigeria, HOSTCOM, has applauded President Muhammadu Buhari for giving a nod to the release of N98 billion gas flare funds to host communities in Niger Delta, to manage.
In Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, while briefing newsmen during the inauguration of the HOSTCOM new executives for Bayelsa State, the National chairman of HOSTCOM, Chief Benjamin Tamaranebi said he commended Buhari.
The elated Tamaranebi said host communities were waiting for long and hoping for the release of the fund, adding that the release of the fund was in line with the aspiration of the people.
“We at HOSTCOM are impressed with President Buhari for aligning himself with the yearning of the Niger Delta people, specifically for the approval and release of N98 billion gas flare funds, long awaited funds to host communities to manage, it is something laudable and we commend him.
Tamaranebi however commended Mr. President for appointing Chief Timpre Sylva as Minister of State for Petroleum, adding that the Federal Government ought to release the 13 percent derivation funds directly to host communities for impact rather than give it to the state governors.
"Any faceless individual coming to create more anarchy in our region should desist and embrace peace, as we will not allow saboteurs to instigate unruly act here. We are ready to partner with the security forces to maintain peace in the Niger Delta"
