MICHAEL JOHNNY ALLEGES PLAN TO RELOCATE GBARAMATU DEEP SEA PORT TO PORT HARCOURT

…Says conspiracy by some ethnic groups

Chairman, Egbema/Gbaramatu Communities Development Foundation (EGCDF), and a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Delta State, Chief Michael Johnny has alleged plan by some appointees of President Muhammadu Buhari and top officials of the Nigerian Maritime and Safety Administration NIMASA to relocate the approved Gbaramatu Deep Sea Port from Delta State to Port Harcourt in Rivers.

In a petition to President Muhammadu Buhari, Chief Johnny said the good intentions and plans of Mr President for Nigeria and Nigerians, particularly the Niger Delta region, were being sabotaged or frustrated by some persons and appointees in the present administration, stressing that unfolding events each day are pointer to this fact.

The APC Chieftain alleged that the plan to relocate the Gbaramatu Deep Sea Port to Rivers State was a conspiracy between an ethnic group in Delta State and some appointees of Mr. President who have concluded plans to use NIMASA to execute their evil agenda.

Chief Johnny attested to Mr. President’s efforts and genuine intention to restore lasting peace in the Niger Delta, which according to him would eventually metamorphose to rapid human and infrastructural development in the region.

He informed President Muhammadu Buhari of plan by some of his appointees to frustrate his good plan by causing another security threat and breach of peace in the region.

Chief Johnny said though the people of Gbaramatu Kingdom are major contributors to the oil revenue of the country, there is little or nothing to show for it, while recounting that the issue of the Nigerian Maritime University, Okerenkoko, which some unscrupulous persons tried to sabotage, because of their personal interest has not been totally laid to rest, though plans are in top gear to ensure a smooth takeoff of academic session this year.

He advised those behind the evil plot to relocate the Gbaramatu Deep Sea Port to have a rethink, saying the people of Gbaramatu  kingdom have suffered much humiliation, intimidation and deliberate marginalization from the Federal Government and Delta State Government in the past

The Egbema/Gbaramatu Communities Development Foundation Chairman appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to direct appropriate authorities to commence the Gbaramatu Deep Sea Port project, dredge the Escravos Bar and construct roads/bridge from Escravos to Gbaramatu kingdom.

Chief Johnny appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to call the Director General of NIMASA for questioning and further investigate his allegation and sanction whoever is behind this fresh plot to cause crisis in the Niger Delta.
