Meet Simon Douye, the newly elected president, National Association of Gbaramatu Students

A civil engineering student in the Nigeria Maritime University (NMU) Okerenkoko, Comrade Simon Douye, is the president of the National Association of Gbaramatu Students (NAGS) at the just concluded 2023 mega/elective convention of the student body.

The election was held on Saturday, April 1st 2023 in Benikrukru community, Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State.

Comrade Douye in his acceptance speech vowed to work in harmony with both students and executive members towards uplifting the student body.

He said: “As the newly elected executives of (NAGS), we promise to carry out our duty with love and honesty; we would also like to use this medium to inform Gbaramatu students to feel free to approach and call us anytime, any day with your ideas and contributions towards the growth of National Association of Gbaramatu Students because with unity, love, peace and togetherness, we can change the narrative and take NAGS to the next level. ”

Other members of the newly sworn-in NAGS executives are: Seigha Nesiama (Vice President), Afiyagba Miyenka (Secretary General), Kele Precious (Public Relations Officer), Erete Ayapere (Assistant Secretary), Gbajor Blessing (Treasurer), Princess Joko (Financial Secretary), Ediseimokumor Abei (Director of Social), Blessing Ekpetipu (Director of Welfare), Kpadowei Doubra (Provost), and Tamarapreye Elekute (Director of Sport).

The members of the former executives of NAGS led by president Comr. Doubra Timiyan are: Guwor Bolouere (Vice President), Ubebe Raphael (Secretary General), Odiki Paul (Public Relations Officer), Gbamila Binawei (Assistant Secretary), Moses Uruemu (Treasurer), Williams Favour (Financial Secretary), Ekpemupolo Tracy (Director of Social), Erete Blessing (Director of Welfare), Atafiri Tamarapreye (Provost), and Metshagharun Ebimo (Director of Sport).

Speaking on the outcome of the election, the former president, Comr. Timiyan tasked the elected executives to put in their best to solving the myriads of challenges facing Gbaramatu students, noting that, “the idea behind every election specifically NAGS, is for them to bring in good ideas on how we can find solutions to the problems that we are facing as a student union body. So I am charging them to go as far as they can and do their best in protecting the interests of all Gbaramatu students.
