In commemoration of the World’s Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Monday, January 17, 2022, Shedrack Agediga Foundation, SAF along with other sister foundations have disclosed their readiness to collaborate with various Local Government Areas across Delta state in enhancing cleanliness of the state and also sensitized traders of Effurun market to desist from dumping refuse in unauthorized places.
This is coming even as the foundation cleaned up Effurun market in Uvwie Local Government Area in the state, emulating the cleanliness, peace and love demonstrated by late King.
GbamramatuVoice gathered that Martin Luther King Day is celebrated and remembered across the world with different activities to spice up the day.
This year’s theme is titled “Creating the beloved Community.”
Speaking shortly after the exercise, the Founder of SAF, Dr. Shedrack Agediga, stated that everyone is out to work in respect of their social status in order to honour Martin Luther and, as such, he advised everyone to be of good conduct while working on the field, stressing that when they work in love and harmony the expected results would be achieved on time with the speed of light.
“There is alot to do and it can only take determination by leaders to do that. The Uvwie Local Government Council should try its best in coordinating the affairs of the market so as not to litter the environment.
“The local government council should be oriented, the people living in this council should ensure that nothing is left undone, otherwise it will be like taking us back to Egypt where we have left, and it will be too bad for us if the local government consider any formal collaboration with us, we are ready to do that.
“It is made clear to us that cleanliness is next to godliness so the market people should try in their possible best to keep it clean at all times.”
On his part, the Chairman for Environment and Traffic Control, Uvwie Local Government Council, Mr. Isaac Itobi, thanked the organizers of the clean up thereby encouraging them to continue with the good work they have started and he prayed God would bless them abundantly.
The market women also commended the work that was done in their place of business and asked God to strengthen the organizers.
Shedrack Agediga Foundation, SAF is a non-profit organization that is poised and focused to initiate and support peace processes, good governance, and development initiatives that will contribute to a peaceful, stable, and developed Niger Delta.
