MARITIME UNIVERSITY : GBARAMATU INDIGENES HAILS KACHIKWU, CONDEMNED SAHARA REPORTERS

Kachikwu

The People of Gbaramatu Kingdom in Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta State has hailed Dr. Ibe Kachikwu the Hon. Minister of State for Petroleum for his timely visit to the Kingdom yesterday to ascertain the true state of the University in terms of infrastructural development.

The Kingdom also condemned in totality of the malicious and totally false report by Sahara Reporters that the minister visited Gbaramatu to dialogue with representatives of Niger Delta Avengers as they described it as a total negation of the ethics and puts a serious credibility test to the media outlet.

It will be recalled that Sahara Reporters had yesterday in their online publications falsely published that the Minister met with Tompolo. In the said publication entitled ” Niger Delta Avengers Meets Oil Minister Kachikwu at Delta State Government House,” paragraph six of that report states as follows , “As a result, the Minister traveled to the kingdom today (which was yesterday) and met with various stakeholders. A source told SaharaReporters that while in the area, Kachikwu also met with wanted Niger Delta militant, Tompolo, but SaharaReporters could not verify that information.  In previous statements, Tompolo had stated that he was not in the area, and he has recently been reported to be abroad.”

GbaramatuVoice Newspaper noted with great bewilderment that a media outlet like Sahara Reporters could deliberately published such unconfirmed and totally untrue story to the public with a view of igniting the polity and wonders on any possible gain that could emanate from such debasing action.

Comr. Sheriff Mulade, Chairman of Kokodiagbene Community today in a press statement released at Warri has also lambasted the endless lies peddled by Sahara reporters since the resurgence of militancy in the Niger Delta while hailing the Minister for State Petroleum for his timely visit. The Statement reads in full :

“We want to sincerely thank and appreciate the Honourable Minister for Petroleum, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu for embarking on this timely visit to nip the recent Niger Delta crises at the bud.

“However, we want to express our displeasure to the media report especially from Sahara reporters that the Honourable Minister met with Representatives of Niger Delta Avengers in Gbaramatu Kingdom, it is imperative to make the record straight that he (Dr. Ibe Kachikwu) met with Citizens and residents of Kurutie and Okerenkoko and leaders of Gbaramatu Kingdom and not Avengers.”

“Therefore, we want to charge the media to carefully investigate in line with its ethics of Journalism before embarking on such cruel, malicious and mischievous publication. it’s disheartened to believe that a reputable media house such as Sahara reporter could embark on such callous and misleading report that the Minister met with Tompolo in a broad day light, we want to categorically inform the general public to kindly disregard such information.”
