LOYIBO TO DC-23: It’s time for others to let Ijaw to produce Delta governor in 2023

The Prime Minister of Tuomo Kingdom, High Chief Loyibo has said that Ijaw’s argument is not ethnic rotations but justice and fairness. Noting that Ijaws have been part of supporting, complementing and making Governors. GbaramatuVoice reports.

He emphasized that it is time for Urhobo and Delta people to give them chance to also produce Governor.

High Chief Mike Loyibo, Traditional Prime Minister of Tuomo Kingdom, addressing members of Delta Central 2023 at his country home in Tuomo Town.

The Prime Minister made this known during the consultative visit of Urhobo political pressure group, Delta Central 2023 at his country home in Tuomo town, Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State ahead of the 2023 governorship elections.

National Chairman, Delta Central 2023, Chief Ighoyota Amori during the visit explained that It will only be better for Delta State to use senatorial movement than ethnic movement for rotations in deciding who becomes the state Governor.

“15 years ago Ibori contested and won. We have waited for years before it came to our turn again.

“It will only be better for Delta to use senatorial movement than ethnic movement. Just the way we started from Central, move to South and to North. He should be back to the central because central has waited for 15years.”

High Chief Mike Loyibo with Chief Ighoyota Amori, National Chairman, Delta Central 2023.

Amori who said that all those that disobey rotation has never won noted that after the central, it will go back to South where Ijaws can boldly tell Itsekiri that it’s there turn to go.

However, High Chief Loyibo responded by making some clarifications where he said the chairman should not say arguments for Ijaw people, that he should let Ijaws say their arguments.

He said the Ijaws Governorship agenda is deeply rooted and every Ijaw speaking sons and daughters are very much interested.

“Ijaw argument is not ethnic rotations, our argument is justice and fairness. Ijaws are saying they have been part of supporting, complementing and making Governors, can’t Urhobo and Delta people give us chance to also produce Governor this time around?

He noted that the Ijaws Governorship agenda is deeply rooted and every speaking Ijaw sons and daughters are very interested.

“Whether the argument is right or wrong what we are saying is why not allow us and try us. That is the argument, and I believe with the support of Delta Central leadership and Delta people we will achieve it.

“As an individual, I believe that, those who have truncated the rotation agreement and contested elections against other ethnic groups should not benefit from the same zoning.

Loyibo advised the delegation to be patient and join the governor in prayers for direction on the most suitable person for Governor as the leader of the state who has made it abundantly clear that it is only God that will decide his successor.

“DC-23 have made a valid argument and it is not bad that they are consulting other Ethnic groups to actualize their agenda.

“But If after James Ibori tenure we met and decided to make rotation official, these arguments would not have been taking place now.

“Okowa has done so much for Ijaw people and we believe in his leadership, we are grateful to him for the massive impact he has made not only in Ijaw communities but across the State.

“I belong to the Okowa political family and once he calls me and say, this is the direction from God, i will follow him because I believe in his leadership and I will also convince our Ijaw people to support the governor”, Loyibo added.

The prime said that the message is clear and promised that they will do justice to the message.

He urged the Ijaws, Itsekiris and Uhrobos to unite and support Governor Okowa administration, as they celebrated the Governor’s 62nd birthday with cutting of cake.
