Loyibo gives constituents multi-million naira as gift to tackle COVID-19

The traditional prime minister of Tuomo kingdom in Delta and Bayelsa states, High Chief Mike Loyibo, has doled out multi-million naira as gift to about one thousand vulnerable indigenes to cushion the effect of COVID-19 in the kingdom.

Loyibo gave out the cash on Wednesday at Tuomo community, traditional head of the kingdom in Burutu council area of Delta state.

Loyibo, a core Buharist and renowned philanthropist, made a similar gesture a year ago when he doled out half a million naira each to over fifty traders and artisans in the kingdom.

In the same vein, less-privileged pupils and students in Star of the Sea Catholic nursery, primary and secondary school, Tuomo, were given scholarship to university level by the philanthropist few months back.

Presenting the cash at his country home in Tuomo, chairman of the distribution committee, Hon. Peres Oloye, noted that beneficiaries were mostly the vulnerable and second phase of cash and food distribution would follow soon.

“More cash gifts, food items and twenty cows are coming and the process will continue tomorrow in communities under Bayelsa state.

“Community heads, youth leaders and opinion leaders are asked to represent their communities at the occasion for the purpose of transparency and adherence to the social distancing directive by government.

“I commend President Muhammadu Buhari and Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa for their dedication to the fight against the spread of the pandemic and I enjoined all subjects and Nigerians to strictly adhere to laid-down directives”, he said.

However, one of the recipients and traditional ruler of Ogbobagbene community, Chief Premier Obiokpo, in his response, said “we are indeed elated and our prayer for Loyibo is that God should grant him long live and prosperity to continue in his good works for humanity”.
