Delta State Contributory Health Scheme’ll Improve Quality Healthcare -DG

THE Delta State Contributory Health Scheme will be implemented to improve quality and reduce cost of healthcare services for all Deltans, irrespective of their socio-economic status.

Director-General of the Delta State Contributory Health Commission, Dr. Nkechika stated this during the ongoing advocacy and sensitisation visit to some healthcare facilities in Burutu, Bomadi, Patani, Udu, Ughelli North and Ughelli South Local Government Areas of the Delta State.

He restated Governor Okowa’s commitment to the full implementation of the Delta State Contributory Health Scheme for the benefit of all Deltans, assuring that quality of care given to patients will improve through a “Patient First” attitude from healthcare workers.

Explaining how the contributory health scheme would work, Dr. Nkechika stated that it would be implemented in both government and private hospitals to ensure healthcare services are available in remote areas of the state and that enrollees will make affordable contributions towards their healthcare and this would cater for their needs whenever they fall sick; instead of paying instantly at the time of need. It will also improve access and reduce time spent at hospitals to see healthcare workers.

The doctor further said that there will be improved resources to provide healthcare services, which will also ensure healthcare workers’ remuneration with “Call Centres” established to receive and manage service complaints.

Dr. Nkechika pleaded for the cooperation of all health workers in the state towards the scheme, stating that nobody will be left behind in the implementation of the Delta State Contributory Health Scheme.

The health workers in the various health facilities visited assured the director-general of their support for the scheme which they described as a good programme of the Governor Okowa administration.
