Jubilation as Diebiri-Batan community inaugurates new executive

Oil-rich Diebiri-Batan Community in  Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta State, on Sunday, July 23, 2023 inaugurated a 14 Member  Executive Committee to drive development and growth of the community for the next two years.

The new executive headed by Mr Goodluck Ekpebide has on their part assured members of the community that the oil-rich Batan will witness massive development under their watch.

The inaugural ceremony which was performed by Prince Barry Orugbene, leader of thought of the community,  took place at the community’s primary school saw the entire community  converge to witness the auspicious occasion.

Those inaugurated include: the Executive Chairman, Mr. Goodluck Ikpebide; Samson Ikpelagha – Vice Chairman; Ferdinard Atutu – Secretary; Blessing Berlyn – PRO; Chief Joseph Igbele-gbele – Assist Secretary; Michael Bibor Lude – Speaker; William Dio -Treasurer; Ogbobine Finepire – Financial Secretary

Others were David Namabiri – Organising Secretary; Richman Amalade – Welfare; Solo Duromor – Member; Thompson Fredrick – Member; Solomon Boukan -Advicer and Rechard Ogugu – Member.

In his acceptance speech, the newly sworn-in chairman, Mr. Goodluck Ekpebide, thanked the outgoing executive committee, elders, women groups, opinion leaders, youth leaders and the entire people of Batan community for giving him the privilege to pilot the affairs of the community for the next two years.

In his words, “I thank God for today, I am so excited to be elected. I promise my people that I will push this community to a much greater height. It’s a privilege to serve and I will do my utmost best so my service will be felt not just in Diebiri or Batan alone but all communities around.

The Chairman further promised to chart a new course for the development of the community.

High points of the ceremony were the formal handover of community documents by the out-goning Mr Amalade Fredrick-led executives to the new chairman.

Present at the event include, Mr. Paddy Iyamu, Founder, Dr Paddy Iyamu Foundation; Amb, Clement Tekedor; Chief Harrison Gbenekama (JP); Mr Assac Akasa; Mr Eric Numah, among others.
