Oporoza residents lament over bad roads, calls on Delta State Govt to intervene

By Loveth Ojogun

Residents of Oporoza community, the ancestral headquarters of Gbaramatu Kingdom in Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta State, have expressed worry over the deplorable state of their major roads describing them as impassable.

In a chat with GbaramatuVoice correspondent, Mr. Patrick K., an indigene stated that their roads have been in this bad shape for a very long time without the government at both state and federal making any effort to make the roads passable.

He further stated that this ugly state of their roads has made life difficult for both the indigenes and non-indigenes alike.

Mr. Patrick stressed that this impassable nature of their roads has worsened the economic woes of his people who find it difficult moving their products due to the marshy nature of these roads.

In his words, “It is so unfortunate that we have been having bad roads in our community from time immemorial which has impeded our socioeconomic and stunted our development as a community.

He, therefore, called on both the State and Federal Government to come to the rescue of Oporoza, adding that the town being the headquarters of Gbaramatu Kingdom deserves a better share.

Patrick finally extended his call to other interventionists agencies such as the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) and Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC) to come to their rescue.
