Escravos–Lagos Pipeline: Call Chevron, Others to Order, GYC urged FG

•Engaging our welders, a precondition for peace – Wuruyai

•Attempts to circumvent this demand will meet stiff resistance

The Gbaramatu Youth Council (GYC) Worldwide in Delta state has called on both the Federal and State Government to prevail on Chevron Nigeria Limited, CNL, to get them involved in their ongoing project.

The project, the group explained has to do with the laying of pipes from Escravos Tank Farm to Dangote Refinery in Lagos State.

Comr. Christopher Wuruyai, President, Gbaramatu Youth Council (GYC) Worldwide stated this recently in a chat with GbaramatuVoice.

According to him, the group is calling on CNL and her sister companies to give them their pride of place in the aforementioned project for the interest of peace as they may not be held responsible for any action resulting from their failure of compliance.

Speaking further, the GYC explained that they have written to the appropriate authorities informing them of their demands.

GbaramatuVoice further gathered that part of the group’s demand is that the welders under the aegis of Nigerian Welders Association (NWA) Gbaramatu Chapter and other indigenes of Gbaramatu kingdom, be directly involved in the project warning that any attempt to circumvent this position shall be met with stiff resistance.

His words; “We are in firm support of their demand and ready to come in whole to make this clear.”

In a related development, GYC further pointed out that they are well aware of the provocative antics of Chevron Nigeria Limited using the Ugborodo youths.

The GYC President told our correspondent that while Gbaramatu Welders and Fitters were on a peaceful protest yesterday  30th October, 2017, that they were visited with an unwarranted violent attack by  Ugborodo youths whom unconfirmed source told them are working to protect CNL selfish interest.

A situation he said would have degenerated into something else if not because of the swift intervention of the Joint Military Task Force (JTF).

Speaking in the same manner, Comr. Wuruyai, therefore, explained that what the group seeks is justice and that remains their sole demand.
