Address the political imbalance in Warri-North LGA, Egbema group tells Okowa

•All the 13 Council Chairmen produced since 1991 were all Itsekiris – Kari Ebipade

•We want the Itsekiris to do the needful – Group

Joining the call for correction of the political imbalance in Warri-North Local Government Area of Delta state, the National Youths, Ogbinbiri Federated Communities of Egbema Kingdom is seeking the immediate intervention of the Executive Governor of Delta State, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa.

The group stated this recently in a statement signed by its President, Mr. Kari Ebipade and made available to GbaramatuVoice.

The group through the statement alleged that since the creation of Warri-North Local Government Area in 1991, their Itsekiri brothers have cornered all the political positions meant for the council.

To illustrate their claim, the group stated that all the thirteen persons that have occupied the chairmanship position in the local council right from its establishment in 1991 were all of Itsekiri extractions, thereby making the Egbema Ijaws to play the role of the underdogs.

Going further, Kari Ebipade explained that the marginalization did not stop at their denial of the local council chairmanship position. He pointed out that the Egbema people have never produced a commissioner in the State Executive Council; a member of the Delta State House of Assembly; or that of the Federal House of Representatives.

To correct this imbalance and ensure peace in the local council, the group called on the Governor of Delta state to urgently take steps to ensure the implementation of rotation policy between the two ethnic groups so that justice will be done and the two ethnic groups in the council can peacefully coexist.

Continuing, the group further reminded the state governor that the issue is not one of insignificance, but of fundamental importance adding that justice urgently needs to be done.

They finally appealed to the Itsekiris to do the needful by giving them the needed support to produce the next council chairman just as they (the Ijaws) have been voting for them since 1991.
