Ijaw Youth Election: Intrigues, orderliness as new officers emerged in Lagos

As it is customary of every electoral process, intrigues, suspense, and orderliness characterized the Ijaw Youth Development Association (IYDA) general election held yesterday to elect new officials which saw Comrade Nicholas Igarama emerged as the new president to pilot its affairs.

The IYDA is the umbrella body of Ijaw youths from Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Delta, Edo, Ondo and Rivers state.

The election which took place at the Niger Delta Hall of Fame in Lagos according to the release issued by the group outgoing president, Comr. Fiyebo Eperetei, at the end of the electoral exercise revealed that Comrade Nicholas Igarama emerged as the new National President while Richard Motimi becomes the new National Deputy President and Nelson Sheke becomes General Secretary.

Others according to the statement are; Miss Rita Roland Treasurer; Mr. Benson Okum Igorigo, Financial Secretary; Miss Mabel Okodo, Woman leader among others.

Continuing, the election further produced the following into different positions; Mr Botu Pius – Vice President (Delta), Miss Queen Ombai, Vice-president (Bayelsa), Godbless Legbe – Vice President (Edo/Ondo), Miss Esther Bonu – Welfare/Organising officer, Comrade Johnson Wowo – Dir. Research and Documentation, Mr Micheal Ambah – Dir. Employment and Empowerment, Mrs Ebiere Abonima – Dir. Education/Orientation, Miss Alaba Ogbegha – Deputy Woman leader and John Ares Collins – Publicity Secretary.

In his acceptance speech, the new National President, Comrade Nicholas Igarama thanked the group for deeming him qualified for the position.

The Computer Science graduate of the University of Cape Coast thereafter urged all to support his administration in taking the group and the Ijaw nation to an enviable position.
