Ijaw woman, Kimberly Ebiwoni, clinches Democratic ticket for Florida House of Reps in US

Kimberly Daniels has won the Democratic primary ticket for Florida House of Representatives, Jacksonville, District 14 in the United States of America (USA).

Kimberly Daniels – Ebiwoni, a minister who is married to Reuben Obawei-Ebiwoni, an Ijaw man from Gbaramatu kingdom, Delta state, Nigeria, emerged victorious and closer to a return to the legislature after she won over three opponents.

The minister turned politician will now face write-in candidate Patrice Wynette Jones in the November 8 general election to represent District 14, which comprise of Northwest Jacksonville, downtown and Arlington.

The 61-year-old- emerged victorious after she got 8,347 votes which is 48 per cent of the votes cast. Her opponents were: Garret Dennis, Mincy Pollock and Iris Hilton.

Reacting to her victory, a post on her Facebook page early Wednesday read, “Going back to Tallahassee! District 14 … Thank you!

In an interview with journalists, she said: “It’s been a blessing. I’m just so full. I’ve talked so much I am at a loss for words tonight. It’s time to celebrate.”

She heaped praises on her fellow District 14 candidates for a “clean race.” The voters, she said, have the “last voice.”

“Your voice has spoken loud. I am looking forward to serving you,” she said in the video.

GbaramatuVoice writes that Daniels had initially served a four-year term as an at-large council member but lost a re-election bid in 2015. However, she was elected to the state House, representing District 14, and served two terms before losing to Angie Nixon in the 2020 Democratic primary.
