How Delta State Governor, Okowa May Emerge As PDP 2023 Presidential Candidate

2023: Okowa free to choose successor - Ijaw leader

The proximity of the presidential candidate of the main opposition party in Nigeria, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), to emerge from the Southern part of the country could be considered to have been maximised with the recent decision of the party on zoning.

It could be recalled that some leaders and members of the main opposition party in Nigeria, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), have decided to zone the position of the national chairman of the party to the North.

Considering the political principle that is being embraced by major political parties in Nigeria, if the national chairman of a political party emerges from the North, the presidential candidate of the same party, usually, emerge from the Southern part of the country.

This principle has assisted the major political parties in Nigeria to maintain fairness, equity and unity among members of the parties.
Considering this, Igbo extraction of members of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party may, likely, be given the presidential ticket of the party in the 2023 general elections.

Wonderfully, despite the fact that Igbo people are thickly populated in the Southeastern part of the country, some members of the ethnic group can be found in other geopolitical zones in Nigeria. Example is the Anioma in Delta State.

If the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) consider to compensate the decade-long support and loyalty that the party has, immeasurably, enjoyed from the good people of Igbo land, 2023 Presidential ticket could be given to the Igbo people.

To foster the chances of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party to perform, excellently, better at the 2023 general elections, the presidential ticket of the party may be given to the incumbent Governor of Delta State, Ifeanyi Okowa.

It could be re called that Governor Ifeanyi Okowa hails from Owa-Alero in Delta State. His hometown falls within the Ika, which is one of the prominent Igbo-speaking communities in Delta State that make up the Anioma Kingdom of the Delta North Senatorial District.

Anioma, the compound name of the ethnic group where Governor Ifeanyi Okowa hails from, is an Igbo word which means “Good Land”.

Considerably, if the main opposition party in Nigeria, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), decides to give her presidential ticket to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, it may give many opportunities to the party in the 2023 general elections.

The presidential ticket of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa is, undoubtedly, a presidential ticket to the Igbo people, worldwide. This may speak, a lot, about the respect and honor that the opposition party finds in the Igbo people.

Also, the presidential candidature of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa may also promote the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), better, among the good people of the South-South geopolitical zone.

Sincerely, if the opposition Peoples Democratic Party gives her presidential ticket to the Governor of Delta State, Ifeanyi Okowa, it may means a great political honor to the Southeast, South-South and the entire southern part of Nigeria. Consequently, the opposition may become more popular and, possibly, have better stance of winning the 2023 presidential elections.
