DELTA: Rival cult clashes put indigenes of Orhohworun town, other communities on edge

Concerned Indigenes of Oporoza Community, Gbaramatu kingdom, Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta State today called for the dissolution of the community executive led by Mr. Johnbul Demebi, over what it described as ‘long overdue’.

The concerned Indigenes, led by 15 members of the community, made the call at a news briefing on Friday in Warri, Delta State.

The spokesman for the concerned Indigenes, Comrade Freeborn Abraye, said that the tenure of the present community executive had elapsed since April 2018 and therefore charged the exco to order a fresh election.

According to the group; “This is a clarion call to the incumbent executives of Oporoza community led by Mr. Johnbul Demebi who have decided not to step down haven exhausted their tenure in office. 

“For every community to grow, there has to be a change in leadership in order to introduce new ideas that will move the community forward. Therefore Mr. Johnbull and his executive should give others in the community a chance to bring in their ideas for the interest of the community. 

“We are using this medium to call on Mr. Johnbull to make the necessary arrangements to hand over to other intending persons in the community at his earliest convenience, haven stayed in the office for five (5) years instead of three (3) years. 

“Mr. Demebi who came into office without any formal election on the 4th of April 2015, have repeatedly disregarded the calls of the people of the community to come up with a date for proper election and inauguration of a new executives haven exhausted his tenure since the 4th of April, 2018. 

“We therefore call on the incumbent chairman to take this appeal seriously in order not to foster undue tension and crisis in the community, as majority of the people in the community are already fed up with his autocratic pattern of leadership”, Comr. Abraye said.
