Grassroots Democratic Initiative calls on Governor Wike to run for president in 2023

The Okrika Council Secretariat Complex was a beehive of activity today as members of the Grassroot Development Initiative (GDI) from Okrika and Ogu/Bolo LGAs converged for a verification and sensitization program.

The program which was held in the Okrika Local Government Multi Purpose Hall had National, State, LGA and Ward leaders in attendance.

Speaking during the event, Hon (Barr) Vincent Nemieboka said the Ogu/Bolo people did not regret their choice of voting for Chief Barr. Ezenwo Nyesom Wike as Governor of Rivers State because of the developmental projects that he has sited in all the communities in the LGA.

He went further to mention some of the projects such as the Ogu-Wakama Link Road which will connect the Wakama community to the headquarter in Ogu, Bolo internal roads which have brought immense developmental projects to Bolo, reconstruction and equipping of Government Secondary School, Ogu, that has given it a befitting look.

He also commended the governor for his support to Ele Community being one of the smallest communities in Ogu/Bolo LGA to produce the present LGA Chairman which he (Barr. Vincent Nemieboka) is a product of.

Nemieboka made it clear that the Wakirike Se people have no reason not to support HE Barr. Ezenwo Nyesom Wike to run for the office of President of Nigeria in 2023 because he is visionary, hardworking, encourages development and pragmatic.

He said iif Governor Wike is given the opportunity to serve as President he would work to bring Nigeria out of the woods.

He said With the support of GDI which has an already established platform, the call from the people for a better government will be achieved.

Barr. Vincent called on members of GDI in Okrika and Ogu/Bolo LGAs to be committed and continue to give their support to the PDP as well as GDI while they as Council Chairmen of both LGAs will continue to deliver the dividend of democracy to the Grassroot.

Speaking earlier, GDI Patron Okrika, Chief Hon. Ibibia Walter, also called on Chief Barr. Ezenwo Nyesom Wike to run for the office of President of Nigeria because of his re-urbanization policy which is visible in Rivers State likewise every state of the nation needs to be re-urbanized.

Chief Hon Bright Amewhule (JP), President General GDI Worldwide, thanked the leaders and members of GDI in Ogu/Bolo and Okrika LGA for their commitment and support towards GDI. He attested to the fact that the root of GDI is in Okrika and Ogu/Bolo LGAs because Barr. Vincent Nemieboka who was one of the founders of GDI stood and fought against the oppressors of GDI and Rivers like wise other leaders from Wakirike extraction.

He said Wakirike people have since in 2012 given their support to GDI and, in 2019, the Wakirike women were at the top in defending democracy because they resisted all forms of intimidation and oppression.

He called on them to double their efforts and this time again vote for leaders that will deliver the dividends of democracy to the grassroot just as the governor and chairman in Rivers State are doing.

The National, State, LGA and Ward Executives from Okrika and Ogu/Bolo led by the National Treasurer, Hon Tonye Aberenika, also came out to call for Chief Barr. Nyesom Wike to run for the office of President of Nigeria, pledging their support for him at all time.

The event was well attended and some of the attendees from Ogu/Bolo are the Vice Chairman of Ogu/Bolo LGA, Hon Mrs Eunice Alabo, Hon Thompson Marcus, PDP Chairman, Ogu/Bolo LGA, Hon Francis Iwaritaribi, GDI Coordinator Ogu/Bolo LGA, LGA and Ward Executive and others.
