Governor Sheriff Oborevwori Must Act Now to Protect Lives in Ogwashi-Uku

By GbaramatuVoice Editorial Board

Ogwashi-Uku, Delta State, has emerged as a hotspot for criminal activities, with mass robberies and gunfire plaguing the community. The situation has reached a critical point where the lives of residents, especially the students of Delta State Polytechnic, are in grave danger. Despite these alarming developments, the silence from the state government is deafening.

It is with great concern and a sense of urgency that we call upon Governor Oborevwori to take immediate and decisive action to address the escalating insecurity in Ogwashi-Uku. The continued neglect of this matter puts the lives of innocent citizens at risk and undermines the fundamental duty of the government to protect its people.

The safety and security of every citizen, including students pursuing their education, should be paramount. However, the current state of affairs in Ogwashi-Uku paints a grim picture of lawlessness and unchecked criminality. It is unacceptable that our students live in constant fear and uncertainty due to the unabated robbery incidents and gunfire in their community.

We demand that Governor Oborevwori personally intervene by visiting Delta State Polytechnic in Ogwashi-Uku to assess the situation firsthand. Furthermore, immediate measures must be taken to bolster security in the area and ensure the safety of residents. If necessary, the government must not hesitate to temporarily close the institution until adequate security measures are put in place.

The time for action is now. Governor Oborevwori, the lives of our citizens hang in the balance, and it is your duty to act swiftly and decisively to protect them. We urge you to prioritize the safety and security of the people of Ogwashi-Uku and restore peace to the community without delay.
