GBARAMATU: I remain authentic chairman of Azama community, Christopher Ike insists

…Says he has done nothing wrong to warrant removal

The embattled Chairman of Azama community in Gbaramatu Kingdom, Delta state, Mr. Christopher Ike aka Colonel, has insisted that he remains the authentic chairman of the community.

Ike, made this known in a statement dated Monday, December 12, 2022, personally signed by him and made available to GbaramatuVoice Newspaper, in Warri, Delta state.

While he called on all peace loving sons and daughters of Azama community, the Nigeria Gas Company (NGC), the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), among others, to disregard any information that points to a change in leadership of the community development association.

The community leader insisted that his Exco remains intact and working tirelessly to effect the social and economic development of the community.

Giving details, the statement noted that even if the community is in need of change in leadership, it will neither be mechanical nor inorganic as the community is blessed with a well codified procedure for appointing those that will manage its affairs.

Ike, who is fondly called ‘Civian Colonel ’ further, argued that he has not contravened the community laws guiding his position to warrant his removal.

He stressed that the facts are there and speak for it.

The statement reads in part; “I have not contravened the community laws guiding my position to warrant removal. I have not corruptly enriched myself or any member of my family, friends or well wishers with the community funds. I have equally not indulged in any form of immoral act within or outside the community. These are the basis under which a Chairman or member of the Executive could be removed. In all these likely offences, my hands are clean. I am innocent’.

“I am a man of peace. I am open for peace and ready to make peace with any aggrieved individual or group. But while that move or declaration is being awaited, Christopher Ike, at the present moment, is the chairman of Azama community,” he concluded.
