Group Drums Support for Governor Okowa

In what could be viewed as an early preparation for the 2019 general electioneering campaign, the Okowa Mandate Group (OMG), a political pressure group has called on Deltans to replicate the volume of support given to Senator (Dr) Ifeanyi Okowa, the Executive Governor of Delta State during the 2015 governorship election.

In a recent release signed by Chief Combolous Ikisa, the Director of Mobilisation, the group stated that for the past two years, the Governor has excellently piloted the affairs of the state, despite the poor economic situation in the country occasioned by the fall in crude oil price which is the main source of revenue.

He added that Okowa has truly delivered dividends of democracy to the electorates.

Chief Combolous also declared that the appointments made by the governor into various political offices in the state adequately cut across all the three senatorial districts. He stressed that Dr. Okowa has also empowered and employed over 40,000 persons within two years of his administration as well as initiated projects that cut across the three senatorial zones.

Still reeling out the achievements of the Okowa’s led administration, the release further stated that as a multi-ethnic state, Dr. Okowa has continued to build bridges of unity across the state stressing that conflicts resolution is one of the key programmes of the administration.

The group urged traditional and opinion leaders to effectively key into this agenda of the governor to bring peace to warring communities as there cannot be development in an atmosphere of rancour.

Also, the group which is made up of professionals from different background and ethnic groups  stated further that the Okowa Mandate Group was one of the political pressure groups in Delta State that appealed to the conscience of Deltans in 2014 to elect Dr Senator Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa suggesting that they are sure that if the governor  is given his constitutional two terms of eight years as it was applicable to Delta Central and Delta South Senatorial districts in the past, “Okowa will perform marvelously well. We should all remember that the unity of the state lies on equity and inclusiveness”, the statement added.

The group finally appealed to Deltans to continue to give an unalloyed support to the Governor as he has been tested and trusted.  While assuring Deltans of unprecedented development under this administration in the nearest future, they assured the people that the best way to reap the gains of democracy is by supporting this administration all the way.
