Indigenes and residents of Udu community in Udu local government area of Delta State have had cause to rejoice greatly as a notorious and highly wanted criminal was arrested by the community’s vigilante.

The Udu central Vigilante team known as “Team A” arrested the alleged criminal who was identified as Oke Olodi Acha also known as “Sharp”. The suspect, according to the indigenes and security has been on the watchlist of security agencies in the state for the past three years.

Sharp, according to information gathered from the vigilante, was arrested at Asjam on the Du Road in Udu. Sources said the suspect was an indigene and a “fighter” for the Oghior community in the ongoing boundary dispute with the Ukpiovwinc community in the Udu Local Government Area.

He allegedly specialised in stealing motorcycles and killing their owners in the process. The 33 year old suspect was handed over to the police at the Ovwian/Aladja Divisional Headquarters for further interrogation and possible prosecution.

However, some community leaders and lawyers have called for Oke’s release saying that he was set up by the security agencies.
